Casa Ollin is rated #1 on tripadvisor.  You can't do much better given it's location, pricepoint, quality of management, etc. There are lots of others, but Ollin rates at the top in my opinion.  For touring, feel free to contact me, but best not to wait too long.  Our B & B is already full for the month. I'll be visiting the first 2 weeks of March....anything special happening ? I'm always up for ideas on where/how to travel around the area, restaurants, places to stay, etc. The usual. I'm excited as I've wanted to visit Oaxaca for years, I'm an artist & photographer so know I will fall in love.....

Anything going on on Christmas Day or will the town be shut down for family time?

We have been traveling since July and missed the action. Stefanie Kott who is a member seems like she would be a good source of information. Hope you enjoy your visit. Oaxaca is truly special and wonderful!

Heading down mid December to mid January - any updates on the earthquake?
Comment by Stefanie Kott on September 8, 2009 at 9:09am
There was a 5.1 earthquake throughout the state of Oaxaca with 27 confirmed dead so far. There are few specifics about the city. You can check throughout the day at: www.imparoax.com.mx/index.html

Meanwhile there is an article here: http://www.disastercenter.com/earthqk/OAXACA.htm

Alan,

10 am tickets to the Guelaguetza, yes. No rain. But the nighttime performance is different: La Leyenda de Donaji. It's spectacular and might be worth taking a chance.

Well, "it" started on Sunday, not the 12th.

One Dead, 8 Injured in Explosion on 3rd Anniversary of Oaxaca Revolt

OAXACA, Mexico – One person died and eight were injured when a car transporting fireworks and gasoline for use in making Molotov cocktails exploded in the southern Mexican city of Oaxaca during violence on the third anniversary of the six-month revolt here in 2006, union officials said on Sunday.
