I just received an email about the filing of taxes for Fedicomiso and last year I was told by the IRS that if I wasnt making money off my property that they did nt care a hoot. I personly think this is true ....there is no income why should they care. Please give us more info on this . Has the IRS been wrong in the past?

We will expect a full report on the week long meetings when John returns to Mexico, later this month.

The Settlement Company ®Turns Nineteen

Mexico’s oldest escrow and title company turns 19, next month. It first opened its doors in 1991, primarily to serve the Los Cabos real estate industry. Since then, the company has served clients throughout the Republic.
According to John Glaab, CIPS, the company’s Director of Marketing. The Settlement Company has handled transfers in every major Los Cabos development. Using its Virtual Closing® process, the company now is able to handle transactions from the Mayan Riviera, to Puerto Vallarta, to Acapulco.
Linda Neil commented, “When I arrived in San Jose del Cabo, the industry lacked a third party depository for documents and funds. Our company was the first to offer those services and later it added legal and tax consultations.. We have also helped developers with purchase contracts, condominium regimes and setting up Home Owners Associations. One of our current major projects is in Zihuatanejo. While most of our clients have been from Canada and the United States, we have also obtained titles for people from places as far away as Andorra (France) Australia and Italy. Our first office was in San Jose. In 2000, we moved our main office to La Paz, while our Chief Financial Officer and Executive Closing Officer are still located in San Jose del Cabo.”
In its early days The Settlement Company® was known for its annual education seminars presented for Realtors® and members of the buying public, by Linda Neil., founder of the company. Today its web site has become known as a bible for Mexican real law and regulations. It can be found at .”

Second Annual Real Estate Summit:
By John K. Glaab, CIPS
For a second year in a row, The National Association of Realtors® (NAR) will host a special Real Estate Summit on Tuesday, May 11th. It will be staged at association’s mid year meetings in Washington, D.C. The summit will bring together real estate professionals, academic and opinion leaders, economists, government officials, and members of the media for a dynamic conversation about how to address real estate challenges across the nation. Stay tuned for more information about keynote speakers and times. (AUTHOR’S NOTE I attended last year’s summit. It had been planned as a half day of panels, but ended up being a full day summit, Among the speakers were Alan Greenspan, former Head of the Federal Reserve Bank, Sheila Blair, head of F.D I.C., members of academia, the media and economists. U.S. banks were subject to a great deal of criticism by panel members and the audience. This to do with past and current lending policies. The following day a Commercial Real Estate Summit was held.)
Other highlights at the Washington meetings will include; the Certified International Property Specialists (CIPS) breakfast. New CIPS designees will receive their diplomas and pins at this event, the International and Second home Real Estate Forum, the International Networking Reception, the MLS Association Executives Session, a Trade Show and visits to several embassies and members of Congress. State real estate associations will caucus during the week.
About the author: John Glaab is a Certified International Property Specialist. He has been active in the International Section of NAR (known since January 1, 2010 as the Global Business and Alliances Group) for more than a decade. John is a founding member of AMPI Los Cabos.
