Thanks Warrne for the feedback. Apprecaited! Hopefully I'll bet my SENTRI pass first try early Nov! So if I understand correctly, the sentri gate is up and running at main border crossing at Calexcio, but not up and running yet at the east gate---...
P.S--Ultimately, is having the SENTRI pass worth having? I guess thats my primary question--does it actually move things along getting through the border lines?
Thanks Warren for the Info. I didn't know about the phone bill info needed. I assume to show residency. I have already my the interview appt at Calexico for early Nov, so Hopefully it goes smoothly!
On the advice of a friend who lives full time in Baja, I'm applying for the SENTRI pass through the Calexico office---anyone's comments on how effective this will be, or any problems I should be aware of, are appreciated. Thanks! (San Felipe group...
Now that I'm retired, I'm able to spend more time in San Felipe, and am looking forward to this 'season' as activities gear up. Looking forward to the Shrimp Festival in November! Please see my profile (San Felipe group) for further info about me....

Love the video! By the way, I listened to Eddie G at Juanitos, singing his song "San Felipe"--Loved his singing and I was able to get a CD from him. I love the Lighthouse--great salmon--music is great! San Felipe is up and coming, sort of on the c...
San Felipe/El Dorado Ranch--in US, Grass Valley, CA
Tell us about yourself, type of business, last employment
I fell in love with the San Felipe area when a friend suggested I come just to see how I liked it. I loved it! Always thought of myself as a mountain and water person, never a desert person--but San Felipe has them all, the tranquil beauty of the mountains, turquoise water, fascinating desert--and the people are great. That was in 2002. I found it hard to leave when the time came. Ten months later, I came back, and purchased a lot in the solar section of the El Dorado Ranch development. Haven't regretted the decision one bit. Each year I develop my lot a little more. Haven't been able to build yet, but when I can I will. Meanwhile, I have a liveable trailer on the lot, and now that I'm full time retired, I plan on snowbirding much of the winter months to San Felipe.
I'm a retired legal secretary, loved my job at the time, but love retirement even more. Retired June 2008. A widow now for 14 years---I was 48 when my husband died--I've learned to do many things on my own out of necessity, not necessarily because I prefer it. My husband first suggested the idea of retiring to Mexico, but at the time it just seemed a long way off.
My passion has become traveling in all its forms--RVing, short trips to the coast, and foreign travel. I've been lucky to have had the opportuhity to visit 15 countries thus far and of course many more on "the list" to explore as I can. I learned the concept of Carpe Diem from my husband--seize the day, do it now. And I've embraced that philosophy whole heartily. Swam with the dolphins in Moorea, snorkeled in Bora Bora and the Great Barrier Reef, rode an elephant in Bali, kissed the Blarney Stone, love Turkey with all its history, etc. As various blogs within My Space-Mexico indicate, it takes an independant type (man or woman) to leave the comfort zone of the States and venture out on her own, but I have embraced it. My preference is to share these new experiences with someone special, but until that guy comes along, if he does, I'll continue 'doing my own thing" and enjoying every moment of it.
I'm looking forward to making new friendships in my second home, Mexico, refreshing my weak high school Spanish with lessons, and exploring more areas of Mexico. Any suggestions are welcome!

Excellent news. Thanks for the update Doug. I'm hoping the Mexican government pulls out all stops and promotes tourist in the US and Canada to come to Mexico. A return of tourism to previous times will do much to pull much of the Mexican economy o...

I would like to congratulate Nina Joy and family and all of the people who, in concert, promote Puerto Penasco. I cannot think of a community which out promotes them. Their efforts should inspire similar activities in other communities that may be...
Mercy,
Thank you for your post. When my book on living in Mexico, "Live Better South of the Border in Mexico" was first published back in the 1990's (it gets updated on a 3-4 year cycle and is in the 4th printing, I think), I tried to dispel the ...
