As for hotels, there is a government subsidized chain all down Baja. They changed their name, I believe they are now called Oasis Inn. The dept of tourism maintains them. Extremely basic but clean. They have everything you need (clean bed, restaurant, bar) but nothing optional. Quite affordable. I highly recommend them. There are other options as well, but these are reliable. The trick is this: you will be driving through open range. I mean really open range. And the nice dark cows like to come up on the nice dark warm pavement to sleep at night. Running into a sleeping bull could ruin your whole trip. So do not, under any circumstances, drive at night. If you're not sure you can make it to the next stop before nightfall, pull in. Also, never pass a gas station without topping off. And be sure your camera is ready at all times, the scenery is just amazing.

Charlotte, I'll be glad to help you. I think I can put you in touch with the right people. My husband and have been in Los Cabos for years (and years) and I specialize in relocations. All the visa issues have changed this year, but I can put you in touch with an expert. As for the hair stylist thing: you don't need a license but you do need that on your visa unless you're willing to work under the table. More later. You might also want to check out my blog about relocation at www.wordpress.caborealtor.com.. Welcome to our community!
