Excellent news. Thanks for the update Doug. I'm hoping the Mexican government pulls out all stops and promotes tourist in the US and Canada to come to Mexico. A return of tourism to previous times will do much to pull much of the Mexican economy o...

I have traveled throughout Mexico for the last 30 years. I opened a mortgage brokerage in Mexico and have been helping Canadians and US Citizens purchase homes in Mexico, using financing, since 2004. Many people who already own in Mexico are pulling cash out of the equity in their Mexico homes using our different mortgage loan programs. No one in Mexico has more lending experience than I, and we have all the available sources of loan programs available in Mexico.

NAFTA Flu

It looks like ground zero where the swine flu has started is a US company who moved some operations to Mexico to avoid US environmental regulations. Looks like the flu will have far reaching affects beyond the actual virus. Check out this article http://www.narconews.com/Issue57/article3512.html

Linda Ellerby on safety in Mexico

Thought everyone would find this insightful and true to the experience we know about Mexico.

One Journalist’s View of Mexico

Sometimes I’ve been called a maverick because I don’t always agree
with my colleagues, but then, only dead fish swim with the stream all
the time. The stream here is Mexico.

You would have to be living on another planet to avoid hearing how
dangerous Mexico has become, and, yes, it’s true drug wars have
escalated violence in Mexico, causing collat… Continue

Retire in Mexico – investment strategy

Retire in Mexico – investment strategy
By Doug Jones, President Mortgages In Mexico

I talk to people every week who plan to retire in Mexico, or are already retired and living in their own condo or home in Mexico. There are definitely some things to consider if living in Mexico is in your retirement plans.

For those of you who are already retired and already own a home in Mexico, I often get requests for pulling cash out of their Mexico equity in their real estate. Remember, no matter how much… Continue

Hi Doug...just wanted to say thank you for your advice about driving through Laredo vs. Tijuana. It helped a lot. You gave me this advice awhile ago, but just wanted to say thank you! Btw? I have had my car (from the states) here now for about five months. As you know you get a six month permit for the car and then you are required to return to the border. Do you know if they readily issue a new visa with car permit right away or can there be problems?
