Hi John, The storm seems to be opening up to the West, spilling more in the ocean and in cd constitucion and up that way, we will keep an eye out. Just spoke to someone in Cabo, it is blustering, but not dangerous.

Thanks Rory. Just watched the video that George posted. Some uncertainty. Did say the rains are moving faster than the wind. Please take care. Ciao, John

Hi Rory, Carol Billups said to contact you and see if you could help. We just finished building our house at Maravia in La Paz. We need to get insurance so we got a quote from Bancomer and when we decided to purchase it they said we had to have a bank account with them which we don't. So now we are trying to find insurance from here. We are with the Scotia bank but they don't offer insurance. Have you any suggestions? I'd appreciate any info you could give me. Thanks, Reg Barrett

- sounds good - we are trying to be progressive in marketing Mexico & specifically Baja since I live in Cabo - many people say the Expo is a good idea but don't commit - they expect us to spend the $$ and bring tours here with buyers so sales will happen automatically...ain't gonna work that way!

- depending on the success of the October event, we will determine what Exhibitors have an interest for another Expo in February - it has been tough getting committments for October so we want to make sure it is resondingly positive then plan for February.

I suggest a general overview of the steps being taken to 'go green'...construction projects, water use, generating power, etc.
- since you are not participating as an Exhibitor, we are careful to not promote companies which are not present - thus we could post generic information with a notation that the article was provided by your company and better still, has been published.
I trust you understand and can provide literature which falls in this criteria. Thank you, Brian

- I believe most of the slots are set with Exhibitors and guest speakers attending the event - perhaps we could publish an article in the Media section as Green projects are an important issue for many people - do you have some information which might work for this?

Expat who have businesses in Mexico

Thanks George for all your hard work and continued efforts to upgrade the site...you are up earlier than I am...or maybe you just do not sleep.

The expat owned businesses group is a great idea! We can communicate with one another on just business issues, and those thinking of opening a business can get good first hand information and assistance.

As always..great job. rk

Recommending one of the new members.

I wanted to take a minute to recommend one of the new members to mms. Lucy Garcia Robles joined last week. This person is a great asset to the Development community in Mexico. She has a warm and charming spirit, a very positive outlook, and a strong work ethic. Her project will be successful, I recommend you drop her a line and hear her story and check out her project in Chapala.

La Paz, Hurricane Jimena update

La Paz 8:24.

It's over! We dodged a bullet on that one! City workers are out in full force this morning, cleaning the Malecon, and the debris from the roads.

A couple of signs came down, but no major damage, skies were sunny at 7.00, but are a little cloudy, sun breaking through from time to time. There is a breeze blowing, so everything is drying out quickly. Reports from Todos Santos are good, and the people I spoke to in Cabo are good.

In about three days, the desert is going to turn brigh… Continue

La Paz, Hurricane Jimena update

La Paz 4.37

Mostly a quiet night. Winds picked up, not really bad, but you could not fly a kite! Cat didn't like it much!

It seems like the worst has passed, the wind will probably be here until noon. Schools are closed of course, but there has not been much rain, so downtown should be fine, have not been out yet..more later.

La Paz, Hurricane Jimena update

La Paz 9:05

Actually it is not bad, it rained from 4.30 to 6.30, torrents of rain, but nothing for the last three hours, and the wind is mild, no power losses, no sirens.

The CFE and other emergency teams were out early and in full force in La Paz, and there were many people helping with drainage problems. I commend the city of La Paz for being on the ball and doing what they can early to eliminate flooding where possible, early evac of those in low lying areas.

Winds are expected to pick up… Continue
