Questions about Mexican Customs? What can I bring into Mexico? What about my car? Go to the source!

This website (see link below) seems to answer most questions about what you can and can't bring into Mexico. Of course, it always comes down to what the individual that attends to you thinks, but at least this is in writing!!

Living at Lake Chapala.

Writing from the garden of our real estate office in Ajijic (a village on the shores of Lake Chapala) on a lovely Friday afternoon in August, temperature about 83 degrees, a cold Corona in my hand....

I live in work in Lake Chapala, the largest lake in Mexico. We have the largest population of Americans anywhere outside of the US and we expect many more of the baby boomers to make their way down here. Some of the main reasons that people move here are:

Hola Tom..... yes, Tere and I are back in our home in Zinapecuaro, Michoacan. We arrived Nov. 12th and are spending a lot of time getting the house operational. More Monarchs are arriving every day. The full migration with be completed by the middle of December. Since Christmas takes over December, January & February are the most popular times to visit the Sanctuaries. Tere and I are going to vist Lake Chapala for sure this year. Will let you know when we get a date and hopefully we can connect

LOL, That's a good one Thomas....
Fireworks? What fireworks? :)
Of course, I've HEARD the rockets exploding but no fireworks yet

Otherwise, Ajijic is a nice place to be, after spending the "HOT" summer in Mazatlan.

Hello Thomas... sorry for the delay in my reply, I am just learning how this program works. I have a "Facebook" page but honestly was not aware that this page existed. I will have to get more involved. I live in Zinapecuaro Michoacan Nov to May (we will be leaving for Mexico in just a few weeks) We are about 4 hours from Lake Chapala. We have not been to Ajijc yet, but we are looking forward to a future visit. We opened a small Tour bisomess to take people to the Monarch Sanctuaries... mostly to keep my mind from turning to jello after I retired 20 months ago. I had a very hecktic job and went from 500 miles per hour to 5 miles per hour when I retired. www.mexicomonarchtours.com We will have to stay in contact. I am sure we will be coming to Ajijc in the next few months.

Thomas,
If you get back over to Morelia I can highly recommend two great restaurants ( both close to the cathedral). The first is right across the street on the third floor of Hotel Los Juaninos and is called La Azotea and serves excellent food. The second restaurant is right around the corner from the first property we viewed on the tour. It's called "Mirasole" and has excellent food as well as an extensive wine cellar. And it is housed in a old building so really elegant. Later

Hi Thomas,
Glad to hear you got back home safely. Had a great AMPI Congeso and took Wednesday to play tourist and explore the city. Found some wonderful restaurants if you get back there again. Just got back to Loreto late last night. Next time I am over to Guadalajara I will get over to visit. Have a GREAT day in real estate.
