Hi Mandy,
I chose La Paz for the winter warmth and can live with the summer heat, but I will probably spend most of the summer traveling when I'm finally living there full time. I've learned to enjoy the desert landscape and it is really beautiful.…
Mandy,
You might consider Guanajuato, Querétaro, Morelia, Guadalajara or Aguascalientes as possible places to live. There are expats in each of the cities, but they only represent a small portion of the population. You will probably need to have a…
Hi Mandy,
Know what you mean. Sounds like you've got the 'have a purpose' thing down. You just need something to focus on other than yourself, something to be involved in and to care about.
Right now is a great time to look for rentals in the beach…
Carol,
Thanks for the tips. I will be renting when I get to MX for two reasons which as a realtor you can relate to:
1. due to inflated housing market in Florda, that crashed hard last year, my house is worth less than what I paid for it. I don't se…
Hi Mandy,
Glad you're thinking of Mexico, I know I can't imagine living anywhere else. What I can recommend is that you continue to narrow the search using the web, but nothing takes the place of a real trip. Right now there are some great travel d…
Hi, I'm new to this group. I want to relocate to a place in Mexico that has a warm climate, low humidity, trees, grass and water. I really like La Paz because of the Sea of Cortez and all the water activities available, and I love the malecon. If I…
I am a boomer - though a working boomer not retired. I also already live and work here in Guadalajara Mexico in real estate. But because of my experience with boomers - I will answer your question from those responses that I have received over the y…
Hard to say for sure but this being the "off" season for my rentals there is a good chance everything may be taken before the winter tourist season even hits.
it is the "boomers" on the move and seasons of the year mean little.
I have seen, this past year, signs of boomers in search of the ideal place to retire. What do you feel are the most important items to consider when looking for your own paradise? Would it be location, close to big cities and shopping? How about the…
Tell us about yourself, type of business, last employment
I am going on 7 years living in Catemaco, Veracruz. My wife and I have just about finished converting the hotel her father built, Hotel Tepetapan into 1 bedroom fully furnished apartments and casitas and have renamed the property Villas Tepetapan.
The actual conversion began about 4 1/2 years ago with one or 2 conversions a year being completed. We now have 2 apartments and 4 casitas complete.
At abot the same time we began building a small RV park on the property. Knowing the limitations due to property size, being a big RV park was not in the cards so we decided to make it nice. I have been told by RVers coming into Tepetapan RV Park that is one of the nicest parks in all of Mexico. I find that surprising but so many have said this that there must be some truth to it.
We are now at the point where we are doing upgrades to the rental units, continue landscaping and generally always trying to make it even more beautiful and enjoyable.
Do you have any websites for your business or websites you wouldlike to refer someone to?
Last Saturday was my birthday and my friend and I set out on an adventure. No, I won’t tell you where, because it’s supposed to be the new last undiscovered paradise. And if I blog it, it won’t be undiscovered anymore and I won’t be able to afford m…
Thanks for posting, and you're absolutely right about Ceneval (the exam discussed in the original blog) needing to take us into consideration and also about the lack of training. I wish we had a mandatory exam, which would go something like this...Q…
Excellent article Carol. A couple of comments.. About licensingYES state licensing is the only way to go A while back a licensing law for B.C.S. was drafted and translated. ( Paid for by the two AMPI Sections.) It went to the state government and di…
