Hi Mandy, yes, the sand is really that white. the photo was taken at Tulum, about 45 minutes south of Plya del Carmen. The beaches there are some of the best I've seen in Mexico or any where. the sand doesn't get hot for some reason, they are wide...

Great article, Harold, and I agree completely. It amazes me that fellow Canadians hear about one death in Mexico in a resort area and they feel it is unsafe to come here. And yet they go to or live in cities like Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Vancou...

Mazatlan - Mexico’s Pacific Pearl

Nestled on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, Mazatlan is aptly nicknamed Mexico’s Pacific Pearl. Perhaps best known as a popular beach resort, Mazatlan boasts a long stretch of stunning coastline, breathtaking ocean views and fabulous weather. Situated just to the south of the Tropic of Cancer and just across the water from the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, Mazatlan is home to approximately 500,000 residents and is the second largest coastal city in the country.… Continue

Safe Living in Mexico - Not as Seen on TV

Bullets flying, heads rolling and bodies piling up — that’s what the media would have us believe is an accurate description of the current situation in Mexico. Understandably, such portrayals have instilled fear in many people, causing them to question whether or not it’s really safe to live in Mexico. However, as many Americans currently living in Mexico will tell you, the American and Canadian media are often overly broad and extreme in their d… Continue

The Truth About Safe Living In Mexico

Fear and worry seem to be at the forefront of many people’s lives these days, and perhaps that’s not surprising considering the images and stories that the media bombards us with on a daily basis. Not only is the world in the midst of economic and environmental crises, it now seems that even the things we like to do to relax, such as vacationing in Mexico, are now fraught with danger. And this has only been exacerbated by the recent swine flu outbreak and the continuous reports about kidnappings… Continue

Todos Santos Peaceful and Tranquil

When it comes to romance, charm and exquisite scenery, Todos Santos is unsurpassed. Unlike more well known cities of Baja California Sur such as Cabo San Lucas, Todos Santos has not been taken over by glitzy celebrities and aristocrats looking for a Mexican playground. On the contrary, Todos Santos offers a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere and is the perfect place to relax and absorb some authentic Mexican culture.

Located approximately a one hour drive away from the cities of La Paz and Cabo… Continue

HI Harold,
Just re-looking at the note you sent earlier, you mentioned we met at the NRA convention. (Just a typo- it was actually the NAR (National Association of Realtors). You know of course and I missed it before, but others may think it was the other convention. The NAR was a fabulous convention and I appreciate your comment.

Hi Harold,
I am a broker in Cabo San Lucas with offices here and in Todos Santos.
I have an article "Driving the Baja - Is it Safe?" If you are interested, I can send it off to you. But, I would need your email address.

We do own and operate our own brokerage, Buy Playa Real Estate Advisors. We are developing our own small condo complex in Puerto Aventuras (that's quite an experience) as well. We work primarily as Buyer Brokers but will list properties for friends although never exclusively. We do not sell certain properties as they do not adhere to the parameters we personally would like to see in place for current and future development in Playa del Carmen. We try to promote smaller independent developers that do not exceed their density (too much) set by the municipality as well as height restrictions etc. Do look us up the next time you are in the area. It would be great to get together for a beer or what have you!

Hi Harold. Thank you for adding me as a friend. I'll be sure to check out your site today! If you have inquiries about property on the Riviera Maya we would appreciate the referral. We do not handle Tulum as their are too many crazy title issues and invasions going on down there. We never recommend anything to our clients that we would not buy ourselves!

Good Morning Harold,
There sure is something you could maybe help me with, but I see you're in Washington, so maybe not so much, but you never know. The biggest challenge I face is lead generation. With the economy, violence and flu, traffic down here has nearly ground to a halt. (and we have no flu and very little violence). Our buyers are people who are not here, so I need a way to reach them. I do Craigslist and activerain and now MySpace, but if you have other (low cost) ideas you wouldn't mind sharing, I would really appreciate it, Thank-you y muchas gracias!
