Mayor Hugo Torres
FYI:
Below, in quotes, is a letter by the Mayor of Rosarito which was forwarded to me. Since it has received a wide dissemination, you may have already received a copy. The mayor's letter addresses the shootings which have occurred here recently and outlines remedies he has undertaken.
Additionally, the citizens of Rosarito are actively organizing various means to combat the crime wave using…

The word "temazcal" comes from the Nahuatl word temazcalli, meaning "house of heat" or "house bath". The Temazcal is a steam bath of pre-Hispanic origin utilized for therapeutic, detoxifying and ritual purposes. Historically, it was a ceremony of purification and cleanliness common among the diverse pre-Hispanic groups of Mesoamerica. It signifies a return to the womb of Mother Earth for healing and rebirth as a new person. Some therapeutic benefits believed to be gained by engaging…

Good Morning
How do you tell the difference between a "rookie" and a "veteran" member of Mexico-My Space? Based on the fact that the three week anniversary of the site is tomorrow, I guess we all are rookies. Many are still hesitant about trying different things. I would address this concern by saying, "Do it! Try it!" You can't hurt the website.
Whenever you sign in to the Website, check your mail. There's an icon of an envelope in the sign in box. If there is a number…

Why Mexico?
I am asked that question quite frequently by readers of my book, “Baja Diaries-Chronicles of a Paradise Lost.” Why did you and your wife retire in Mexico instead of Florida, New Mexico or another foreign country other than Mexico?
I never really considered any other place, domestic or foreign. Many years ago I read a book entitled, “Choose Mexico.” A sub-title stated that you could retire to Mexico for ?…

Sunday, Oct. 5
Today has been very exciting and rewarding. While I am excited with the addition of each new member, I am very excited over the addition today of Carl Franz. Carl is the author of the book, “The People’s Guide to Mexico.”
Let me digress for a moment. When I first stated considering retiring to Mexico nearly 20 years ago, I purchased two books. One was Howell’s book, “Choose Mexico.” The other book I purchased was Carl’s “People’s Guide.” Both played an…

Inquiring minds want to know. I'm sure that the question of "How will I receive mail when I move to Mexico?" has crossed the minds of many of our readers. We have many members who still live in the USA. They're in the process of doing the groundwork for the move. I do hope the current financial crisis we're experiencing does not affect them in a negative manner.
When I lived in the Ensenada area, there were several ways by which we…

This appeared today in the Sundog's Baja Group's Digest. I thought that it might be of interest to many of our members and readers.
Evidently, I left my identity in Mexico

Identity theft was never a worry because any self-respecting thief is
too choosy to steal mine.
No one wants an identity best known for eating 20 coney dogs in a
day. I create the same effect a 1997 Plymouth Neon has on…

Fall is the Perfect Time for Los Cabos Whale Watching
Every mid to late autumn the Baja peninsula is visited by warm water loving sea creatures, attracting numerous whale enthusiasts and tourists. If you’re coming to Cabo during the fall, you are likely to see a few water spouts and tail splashes.
Many Los Cabo visitors hope to see the spectacular breaching of a whale. This is when one leaps almost completely out of the water and falls back with a large splash,…
