Mandy is right on. What are you waiting for? Take the trip alone, fly down by yourself; talk to people on the plane, forget cruises, get there, get involved; stay up late, walk the Malecon, sleep late, talk to strangers, introduce yourself, check out websites and expat celebrations, parties and have fun; trust the ones you check out carefully and become a new woman! An adventurous and a very careful one.

Hear! Hear! Mandy! I agree completely. Erin, I have been going to Mexico for 10 years ... and my husband chose to stay home all but 2 years. I had to follow my passion. As women we are capable of so much and when we step out and try things on our own, not only do we have that experience, but it builds a confidence within that can't be taken away. I encouraage you, if Mexico is part of your dreams, to make that trip anyway. Whether it be for a week, a month... whatever. Alone or with a girlfriend. Just trust that you can do it if it's what you really want.

I second that. If I had waited around to come to Mexico with someone I would never have made it. If you are not comfortable travelling by yourself sign up for one of the tours or cruises that head down here. It is a great way to see different cities and meet people. If your BF has made a decision to split this is the best time to get out of town and what better way than to take a cruise where you will meet people and learn about the Mexican culture. You won't be sorry!!!!!!

Erin, being old gives the advantage of hindsight and experience. That being said, why do your plans have to change because of breaking up with your boyfriend? If you had an idea of what you'd do in Mexico, why not pursue it? Life has taught me that women should never live in the shadow of the men in their life. Live for yourself. Follow your dreams. Go to Mexico, have fun. When you are 80 the only regrets you will have are for the things you did not do, not for the things you did. Trust me. Mandy
