The Pinterest Field of Dreams 

If you build it, will they come? That’s the big question and I have been trying to answer it in a positive way by my actions.

I started my first Pinterest page on March 11^th. Although they had about 12,000,000 users at the time, there were still many people who had not heard of it. So what is Pinterest and what’s driving this steamroller?

Pinterest is a virtual pinboard that allows you to organize and share all the interesting and beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.

Wikipedia defines or describes Pinterest as “a pinboard-style social photo sharing website that allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections such as events, interests, hobbies, and more. Users can browse other pinboards for inspiration, 're-pin' images to their own collections and/or 'like' photos. Pinterest's mission is to "connect everyone in the world through the 'things' they find interesting"^[3] via a global platform of inspiration and idea sharing. Pinterest allows its users to share 'pins' on both Twitter and Facebook, which allows users to share and interact with a broad community.”

Those definitions sound simple enough but what has driven Pinterest to such a dominant position in the Social Network sphere?

1. Using Facebook and the “Invitation to Join Mystique.” When you sign up using Facebook the information is added to your timeline and all your friends receive notice.
2. Under “Invite” you have the ability to invite people on your email list, your Facebook friends in addition to individual invites. You can also follow the individuals from the different lists that are already Pinterest users.
3. Both of these are good explanations for the growth of Pinterest. However, I feel that a major contributing factor is the ease of use. People without the technical “know how” to deal with Wordpress Blogs or regular websites have something they can do on the Internet.
4. Ladies Rule! They were early adopters of Pinterest, sharing recipes, crafts, DIY projects and more. I have read where they represent over 60% of the participants. I would agree with that because I believe that over 50% of my followers are female.

It’s easy to have fun on Pinterest but using it for business is not so easy. Business? Yes! At some point in the development of Pinterest people discovered that they were getting a lot of business from their Pinterest accounts. That’s when the Internet marketing Gurus came on the scene and eBooks and software started appearing all over the Internet. Admittedly, I bought my share.

As I said earlier, I started my Pinterest involvement on March 11^th. I have 2 Pinterest Pages that funnel traffic to a third page. All three are Real Estate related. I am currently working on a third page to complete the group and funnel traffic to my members.

I am extending an invitation for you to be a part of this program. Of course it’s not free but can you afford the time to Pin two or three thousand pictures and videos linked to your website? Perhaps you can afford to pay a Social Media manager to do all of this for you. 

Of course I will charge a fee but it’s very affordable when compared to the alternatives. We are in our Beta testing phase so there is no charge or obligation until October 1, 2012.
